Dr. Ave Kludze, NASA Space Engineer And The First African To Command A Spacecraft In Orbit Was On KWAKU One-On-One On Sunday, 28th June 2009

Dr. Ave Kludze, a 43-year-old Ghanaian, is one of NASA’s top systems engineers.  He is a member of the team at NASA that is working on the US’ mission to send a manned mission to Mars.  He is the first African to command a spacecraft in orbit.  On Sunday, June 28, Dr. Kludze was Kwaku’s guest on “Kwaku One-on-One.”  The son of a judge, Dr. Kludze grew up at Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana, and the Dansoman suburb of Accra.  He went to Adisadel College in Cape Coast, and Rutgers and Johns Hopkins Universities in the United States.  “As a child, I was curious about anything electronic.  I destroyed my father’s radio because I wanted to understand how it worked.  But he was patient with me,” Kludze told Kwaku.
Excerpts from transcripts of this and other Kwaku One-On-One interview will be posted shortly.
