A friend of mine is trying to encourage her 17-year-nephew to pull up his trousers. I’m sure you know what’s in fashion these days. The boys’ trousers shall be baggy and loose at the waist. Shall --- it’s mandatory, as in a legal document. This enables said trousers to collapse in a heap at wearer’s feet, in order that it shall reveal boxer shorts designer label.

I understand the Ghana Highway Authority has finally paid 90 million cedis to be allowed to fell a tree at Ofankor that’s standing in the way of road building. 

Accra frightens me. Its future scares me even more. 

Our capital is growing. It’s expanding, and very fast too. But that’s not the problem. Because it means that lots of money is being pumped into the city. And it’s pretty obvious. The problem is that this growth is without direction. It has no symmetry. No order. No shepherding.

This is such a beautiful country --- outside Accra, that is. Recently, I travelled down my favourite route --- east of Tema towards Akosombo and over the Adomi Bridge towards the Volta Region. It’s spectacular.

There are places in the Volta Region whose beauty will simply take your breath away. The Peki area is one of them. It’s heavenly.
