Healing Thru Painting: An Artist’s Amazing Story

You may have heard stories about people being gravely ill, and then finding healing through art and music therapy.

Well in 2001 Ekow Grimmond-Thomson was involved in a road accident in California which left him partly paralyzed. He subsequently took to painting after what he says was a spiritual prompting. Not long afterwards, he found healing.

His amazing story appeared in the media in Milton-Keynes where he had relocated.

Although he’s a software engineer, he has since been painting full time to sustain him and his health. Some of his works are also in hospitals including at the Cardio Thoracic Centre at Korle Bu Hospital in Accra.

Mr. Grimmond-Thompson is here with me tonight to recount the story.

Also joining me is Ghana’s leading psychiatrist Dr. Akwasi Osei. He will share his professional insight regarding Ekow’s story, but more importantly about the efficacy of art and music therapy as well as the importance of his own work as a psychiatrist.

Do you know of any such experience as Ekow’s account? What would you like to ask him or Dr. Osei? #TheLounge on Starr1035FM
