20 years ago, on the 23rd of January, Dr. Hilla Limann, passed away at the relatively young age of 64. Dr. Limann was President for just under two and half years. He’d been elected on the ticket of the People’s National Party ((PNP) in a highly competitive poll in 1979 – turbulent time in Ghana – yet, in what was widely considered one of the freest and fairest elections in Africa. His government was overthrown on news year’s eve in coup led by Flt Lt Jerry Rawlings.
As President Limann’s Family, friends and associates commemorate 20 years since his passing, I’ve invited his children to join me to reflect on his life and share with us their memories of him as a man, husband and father.
They’re also joined by hiplife icon Reggie Rockstone who’s married into the family. I can’t help but wonder what Daddy Limann would’ve thought of his medical doctor daughter marrying a guy in dreadlocks!
And…is anyone of his children considering a future in politics?
